well of COURSE its a popularity contest. you're not doing nudity or S&M-themed photography, final fantasy or kingdom hearts cosplay, nor harry potter or naruto fanart. while there are some talented individuals the vast bulk of page views can be attributed to one of those categories.

DA is a sea of shit. you've got to find your niche if you think its worth staying.

(random note - i've tried posting cheesecake and it doesnt generate enough hits. perhaps my watchers are too smart)

If it's any consolation, I'm blown away by your portraits. Keep them coming. Simply put, I'd be more active here if I had the skill. Until that day (?) I'll just enjoy those photographers that do. Gesetz has it right. You really do have to wade through a monumental amount of crap to find decent work.
